Turmoil in Tranquility
61cm x 43cm
Acrylic paint and ink on paper
This piece is very dear to me as it was the first piece leading me into this genre. I was at a place where my future was bright and clear but my inner being was still in turmoil. The bee symbolizes freedom partnered with a sense of structure, almost as if it was trying to assist me in clearing my thoughts. The bold blue acrylic brush strokes coupled with the cross hatching of the ink stripes emphasizes the mental struggle that was in progress, all bound together by the Greek "Evil eyes" that is believed to offer protection from the hatred of outsiders.

Happy Blues
60cm x 45cm
Acrylic paint and ink on canvas sheet
There is nothing in this world as pure as the laughter of a child, the way they learn and experience life in such a new and fresh perspective. I find myself often dreaming yet wondering what the world may hold for the future generation. The simplicity of play as I knew it as a child seems to have faded away in a world where technology has taken over. One cannot help but notice the change in the way that children's minds are developed, thus I find myself at a place where my longing for a child has become a concoction of excitement and a hint of concernment. This piece' however' is aimed to focus on the joy and beauty in a child, in the midst of such a crazy world.

Fruit picking in the Future
60cm x 45cm
Acrylic paint and ink on canvas sheet
I fell in love with the way that my paint moves on the canvas sheet, as if mimicking the flow of my thoughts and dreams for the future. Ever since I can remember, I have desired to have a piece of land where my children can eat from the trees and roam free. "Fruit picking in the Future" is a documentation of that dream, acting as a reminder and bringing me joy.

Peter's kite
60cm x 45cm
Acrylic paint and ink on canvas sheet
A note to maintain a childlike spirit of joy in adulthood and a reminder of a beloved pet, Sarah.

Lift your eyes
61cm x 43cm
Acrylic paint and ink on paper
"Lift your eyes" shows a reoccurring struggle in structuring of thoughts and acts as a reminder to never give up. The bold brush strokes symbolizes the chaos going on inside and plays well with the contrast of the hexagons that represent a system of organization in the mind. The battle between thought and emotion can only be won when the mind is taught to structure and evaluate what flows through.

Alexa
60cm x 45cm
Acrylic paint and ink on canvas sheet
"Alexa" unapologetically refers to artificial intelligence taking shape as an existential being, becoming personified and accepted as a "smart friend". The halo around the brain region symbolizing holiness, imparts my view of AI becoming "God-like" and all seeing, having a mind of it's own. From another angle, the painting shows humanity's change of thinking and living, neglecting the physical body and focusing more on the mental and neurological infusion of our daily work, social and pleasure with technology.

Part of the crew
60cm x 45cm
Acrylic paint and ink on canvas sheet
"Part of the crew" references to one of my favorite movie series of all time; "Pirates of the Caribbean". The scene on the Flying Dutchman where William becomes "Part of the ship, part of the crew", his heart being taken and he then becomes the captain. This theme is carried through in this painting where conforming for the sake of love and duty is required. It is to take on the shape, the name and the ways of another family in order to fit in and to live in harmony.

Lovely Lady
42cm x 59cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
A painting aimed to challenge our judgements and prejudice. Upon seeing a certain type of woman, conclusions are drawn and statements of belittlement are often made. Her true beauty, however, lies in the strength life has forced upon her, the endurance and the empathy she has for others. She is a diamond in the rough, a Lovely Lady.

Bride to be
42cm x 59cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
As a "Soon to be Bride", I started feeling overwhelmed with the emotions of the massive life change coupled with the stresses of planning a wedding. I wondered what it must be like in other cultures. For the Chinese, the wedding dress was traditionally red, symbolizing prosperity and happiness. In the Japanese culture, a light skin signified beauty. Brides would paint their faces white in order to appear slim and fair. "Bride to be" acts as a tribute for brides of all cultures and traditions, recognizing their beauty and the change they endure.

Sneaky Brown Eyes
42cm x 59cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
She is a woman of culture and drama. She is controversial in the most attractive sense. The Victorian feathers in her hair symbolizing honor and demanding respect, Her brisé fan, a sign of royalty and wealth contradicted by her plain hands and the cunning look staring from her hidden face. "Sneaky Brown Eyes" is a statement piece for the power of women in each era.

Crazy Chick
42cm x 59cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
The piece to make you laugh at the artist's mental state. Although the yellow background is bright and exciting, this painting shows the expression of mental turmoil. The rubber duck, symbolizing a thought or emotion, dominating the girl by sitting on her head and staring straight on into the observer's gaze, demanding attention. As I often do and did in the painting, dismissing the difficulty by bringing in humor and in this case, a silly facial expressing

Tired Tiny Tutu
42cm x 59cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
More often than not, we see dancers in all their glory, on their points and expressing their talent. This piece shows a dancer, tired and close to tears. She has taken off her ballet shoes and is tending to her hurting feet. "Tired Tiny Tutu" represents a point in every artist's life where they are overcome with the pressure and pains of their occupation.

When Love calls
59cm x 42cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
This piece is a representation of sensuality and desire. The antique pieces raise the statement that physical love has been part of humanity for ages and remains beautiful in all its fullness.

Beauty
42cm x 59cm
Acrylic paint and ink on artist's paper
Venus de Milo, the pinnacle of female beauty at that time. In this painting I excluded her arms, creating an ornamental sense and forcing the viewer to focus on the enchantment of the shape. Although the term "beauty" is diverse, the painting is intended to point out the flawless, sensual beauty of the young female body.

Love Land
61cm x 137cm
"Love Land" is an escape to a place in my mind where color flows, where love consumes and where all things are perfect. The halo and the white flowers represent a sense of purity and holiness, which more often than not comes with a clear conscience and peace. It is like heaven.

Lucky Duck
68.5cm x 91.5cm
This painting has been a long time coming, emerging through many stages of my life. She represents strength, intelligence and good fortune. She portrays the marriage between the world's artificial system and that of the "outer world", "Spiritual" or "Luck" as some would call. The green hands are the artist's actual hands that were painted and imparted. It gave me a sense of "god-likeness" and power to imprint in such a way and made me feel like the piece will always be a part of me. Many times a painting has a way to shape itself. This was definitely one of those.

At a loss for Love (Salvador Dali)
61cm x 137cm
I wanted to create a sense of a world that has no rules. There is no up or down and no center of gravity. There is one artist who absolutely inspired me with his rebellion to physical norms and depiction of objects in an almost mental and insane way. Salvador Dali's piece carries the theme of this art piece and mirrors the message of love being oddly shaped, fleeting and confusing at times.

Don't Cry

Painted in a time where the artist felt confused, broken and abused, yet had a glimmer of hope, represented by the single white daisy.
